(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) – On July 1, 2017, the USA South Athletic Conference officially welcomed Berea College, Brevard College and Pfeiffer University as its three newest members. All three will begin competing in the League this coming Fall.
Berea will be the lone institution of the three who will be a full-fledged NCAA Division III member and thus is immediately eligible to compete for all USA South championships and awards. Both Brevard and Pfeiffer are currently reclassifying from NCAA Division II to Division III and have been integrated into the USA South schedules for all sports in which they sponsor however, contests versus the two reclassifying members will not count within the League standings until the 2018-19 season. Additionally, until their reclassifying process with the NCAA is complete, which is anticipated to be following the 2020-21 academic year, neither institution will be eligible to compete in any USA South post-season tournament event. Beginning with the 2018-19 academic year, both Brevard and Pfeiffer will be eligible for regular season titles and athletic awards. Beginning immediately, all reclassifying student-athletes are eligible for any Conference-awarded academic and/or sportsmanship honors.
