During the 12 game streak, Salem has averaged 76 points per game, while their opponents are just averaging 48 points. The Spirits have outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points during this streak.
“Naturally, I am happy with the wins and the success that our student-athletes are experiencing," said Head Coach Anita Howard. "It is not only good for them but, for the Spirit fans and the campus community."
Satavia Taylor (Chicago, IL) is currently ranked 11th in the nation in DIII basketball with 22.3 points per game. The team is currently ranked 17th in the nation in scoring defense as they are only allowing 52 points per game against them.
"Attendance has picked up and anticipation of home games is much greater. However, the team has agreed that although we are winning, there are still things we need to improve on as we continue towards our goal of winning a championship," said Coach Howard.
The Spirits crushed conference rival Agnes Scott 95-35 in their first meeting. They will meet again on February 8th on the road. Salem also has two games against Wesleyan on their quest for their first conference regular season title.
Coach Howard said, "I am very pleased that these ladies continue to work hard in practice every day remaining humbled and hungry rather than growing complacent knowing we still have a competitive journey ahead of us.”
The Spirits have three games this week. Tonight they travel to Warren Wilson, and they host Wesleyan this weekend. Their toughest game remaining during the regular season will be at Methodist next Monday.
