WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.– The Salem College soccer team fell to the Pioneers of Transylvania 1-0 after a late first half goal.
It was an early game battle as the two teams exchanged shots throughout the first half. Both keepers were utilized and held the game scoreless. Hannah Wagner was called to make a save within the first two-minutes. In the 43rd minute, the Pioneers would find the back of the net to move the score to 1-0.
The latter 45-minutes was similar to the first. Both teams were getting good looks at the goal, but neither could find the net. The late first half goal from Transy was enough to take the win over Salem.
Alyssa Denkovich was credited with three shots in the contest.
Wagner gathered in four saves.
Salem is on the road for their next contest at Emory & Henry on September 16th.
