SOPHOMORE (2025): Competed in two singles matches over the duration of the 2024-25 campaign … was 0-2 on the slate, suffering both setbacks as the No. 6 seed … made her season debut in No. 3 doubles, alongside Chloe Koons, as the pair suffered a 6-1 loss to Amy Soto Salgaco and LaNyia Ward (Guilford) … faced Ella Suk (Elon) as the No. 6 seed, suffering a 6-0, 6-0 loss … capped off the season with a 6-2, 6-0 setback to Mandy Marth (Johnson & Wales).Â
FIRST YEAR (2024): Joined the Spirits prior to the start of the spring season … finished off her first season with one victory in three matches … made her collegiate debut as the No. 6 seed for the Spirits against Elon on March 8th, where she fell by scores of 6-0, 6-0 to Miray Kornar … just over two weeks later, she returned to the court to face sixth-seeded Erica McRay from William Peace, earning a 6-0, 6-0 victory of her own … final singles match of the season came against Pfeiffer’s Kristen Colle, who emerged with a 6-0, 6-0 win … also competed in two doubles matches, the first of which came alongside Emily Griffis as the two faced Elon’s pair of Konar and Helen Sarikulaya … James teamed with Abrielle Eckenroth on April 16th in a doubles match against Brevard’s Jada Ore and Madison Bowen, who emerged by an 8-0 score.
PREP: Attended St. Joseph’s Covenant Secondary School in Saint Lucia … also attended Sir Arthur Lewis Community College … competed in track and field at St. Joseph’s Covenant Secondary School from 2016-18, under the direction of coach Monrose, before returning to the team from 2018-2021, where she ran under the direction of coach Martinez … competed on the Club Tennis circuit from 2016-24 under the direction of coaches Ricardo Bowe and Florence Bowe at the Bowe Tennis Academy.
PERSONAL: Jessea Georgia James … daughter of Cecilia Atkinson-James and St. George James … born on November 2, 2004 … served as Key Club Lieutenant Governor in both St. Lucia and St. Vincent … was Photography Club President … active in Effective Speaking where she was the Vice President … member of STEM & Robotics Club … served as a St. Joseph’s Covenant (SJC) Secondary School Rank Perfect & Student Leader … also participated in SJC Insider, SJC Steel Pan, SJC Young Leaders and SJC Big Sisters … was on the CXC Merit List for both English Literature (2021) and mathematics (2020).
