Teena Whitehead serves as an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Salem College, bringing a passion for player development, mentorship, and team building to the  women's basketball program. With experience coaching youth and AAU basketball, Whitehead is dedicated to helping student-athletes develop the skills, confidence, and character necessary for success both on and off the court.
Whitehead's coaching journey began with the London Little League Basketball program, where she served as an AAU Basketball Coach, focusing on fundamental skill development, teamwork, and game strategy. She later continued her coaching career as an AAU Assistant Coach with The Family Basketball Organization, where she assisted with practice planning, player development, and preparing athletes to compete at a high level. Through these experiences, she developed a reputation for building positive relationships with players while emphasizing discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement.
In addition to her coaching experience, Whitehead brings more than 20 years of professional leadership and operations experience in purchasing, sales, and supply chain management. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills while managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, coordinating logistics, and overseeing daily business operations. Her extensive professional background provides a unique perspective that helps prepare student-athletes for success beyond their playing careers.
Currently serving as a Senior Site Buyer at Herbalife. Whitehead continues to excel in a fast-paced business environment while remaining committed to mentoring and developing young people through athletics. Her ability to connect with individuals, build meaningful relationships, and foster a culture of accountability makes her a valuable member of the Salem College Women's Basketball coaching staff.
As an Assistant Coach, Whitehead assists with player development, practice planning, Â game preparation, and student-athlete mentorship. She is committed to helping Salem College Women's Basketball continue building a competitive program while providing a transformational experience for every student-athlete.
