Softball wins two in wild day of games

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team played two wild and crazy games today and came out with the win in both games. They defeated Shenandoah 12-11, and Randolph 11-8. Briana Crumley hit a huge 3 run homer to give Salem the win against Randolph. The Spirits are now off to a 6-2 start.

Salem took a 9-2 lead against Shenandoah, before the Hornets took an 11-9 lead. Salem scored 3 in the bottom of the 7th for the win, including a walk-off hit by Brittany Morton. Sydney Vaughn earned her third win on the mound.

In game 2, Salem held a 5-1 lead after two, before Randolph took and 8-5 lead in the fourth. Salem scored 5 runs in the top of the seventh for the win. Brianna Morris earned the win, and Vaughn picked up the save.

Crumley had a monster day with 9 runs batted in and 7 hits. Jennifer Vitarelli had 6 hits for the day, while Montana Lineberger had 5 hits.

The Spirits travel to Raleigh next weekend for 4 games at a tournament hosted by William Peace.
