WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Salem soccer team endured a tough defensive battle with USA South Conference foe Pfeiffer, who emerged with a 1-0 victory after netting a goal in the 29th-minute.
Pfeiffer's Khamani Spencer netted her fifth goal of the season in the first half, providing the Falcons with a 1-0 advantage. Pfeiffer closed out the opening half with nine shots, including two shots on goal.
Salem's offense finished off the opening half of the season with six shots, including two shots on goal. One of the shots on goal came off the foot of
Olivia Slayton, while
Darilyn Nieto contributed the other.
Kaylee Ollis finished off the shut out with one save over 90 minutes, while
Marissa Doutrich stonewalled the Pfeiffer offensive attack with eight saves of her own.
Pfeiffer closed the match with 20 shots, including 10 shots on goal, while Salem countered with eight shots and three shots on goal.
