JUNIOR (2021-22): Closed out her Salem career with 420 points (15th), 181 rebounds (151 defensive), 153 field goals, 104 assists (9th), 59 3-pointers (6th), 55 free throws and 54 steals … started in 18 of the 22 games in which she played, logging 375 minutes along the way … converted 22-of-100 field goals, 3-of-6 at the free throw line and a pair of 3-pointers to score 49 points … responsible for 45 rebounds (38 defensive), 23 assists and eight steals on the season … capped off a solid outing against Virginia Wesleyan (Nov. 13) with six points, after hitting 3-of-7 from the floor … came through with eight points (3-of-9), five rebounds and four assists versus Bridgewater … scored a single-game season-high nine points (3-of-6) in a clash with Southern Virginia … climbed the glass for single-game season-high six rebounds (five defensive) against Greensboro (Feb. 3) … netted six points (3-of-5) as part of Salem’s 74-61 win over Averett (Feb. 5) … came through with five rebounds, all defensive, in the nine-point overtime win at William Peace (Feb. 12).
SOPHOMORE (2019-20): Ended the season ranked among the top-3 in 12 statistical categories including points (260—1st), field goals made (94—1st), field goals attempted (303—1st), 3-point field goals made (37—1st), 3-point field goals attempted (124—1st), assists (64—1st), 3-point field goal percentage (29.8—2nd), free throws made (35—2nd), free throw percentage (71.4—2nd), free throws attempted (49—3rd), total rebounds (97—3rd) and steals (32—3rd) … opened the slate with eight rebounds and seven points against Piedmont International (Nov. 13) … reached double figures in scoring (13 points) in a clash with Warren Wilson (Nov. 16) … scored double figures in six straight games between Nov. 23 and Dec. 18 against Clinton (16), Randolph (14), N.C. Wesleyan (14), Pfeiffer (21), Hollins (15) and Methodist (12) … in her 21-point effort against Pfeiffer (Dec. 6), Bowen finished 9-of-15 from the floor (60%) and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc … added 10 points against Mary Baldwin (Jan. 1) … had an 18-point outburst against Meredith (Jan. 4), knocking down 6-of-14 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the free throw line … posted 13 points and seven rebounds, hitting 4-of-12 from the floor and 4-of-6 at the charity stripe, at Greensboro (Jan. 8) … tallied 11 points and four rebounds at Pfeiffer (Jan. 15) … finished with 16 points, after knocking down 6-of-18 from the floor, grabbed seven rebounds and tallied three steals at Mary Baldwin (Jan. 21) … enjoyed her first double-digit scoring performance of February at Piedmont International (19 points) after hitting 6-of-18 from the floor, 3-of-9 from 3-point range and 4-of-4 at the free throw line … added eight rebounds (six defensive) in the clash with Piedmont International … scored 14 points in 36 minutes due in large to hitting 6-of-6 from the free throw line and 3-of-12 from the floor … ended the season with 11 points, knocking down 4-of-9 from the floor, while adding four rebounds.
FRESHMAN (2018-19): Wrapped up her freshman slate with 99 points (5.0 ppg.), 41 rebounds (2.1 rpg.), 16 assists and 14 steals … made her collegiate debut against Southern Virginia (Nov. 13), coming through with seven points after hitting 3-for-5 from the free throw line and a pair of field goals … emerged with six points, knocking down a pair of 3-pointers, against Greensboro College (Dec. 1) … closed with two field goals and two free throws at Roanoke (Dec. 18), scoring six points … emerged with nine points, knocking down a trio of 3-pointers against Meredith (Jan. 9) … added six points, after converting two 3-pointers, in a meeting with Piedmont International (Jan. 12) … continued her solid play with five points each against Methodist (Jan. 16) and William Peace (Jan. 19) … exploded for 22 points, finishing 8-of-18 from the floor, 3-for-4 from beyond the arc and 3-for-4 at the free throw line, while coming through with four rebounds in her only start of the season against Johnson & Wales (Jan. 29) … closed out a meeting with Greensboro (Feb. 2) with five points and three rebounds in 34 minutes of action.
PREP: Graduated from Forestview High School in 2018 … a five-sport athlete that participated in basketball (four years), softball (three), soccer (one), cross country (two) and volleyball (four) … played basketball for Kevin Garganeus in basketball between 2014-18, winning Most Valuable Player honors on two occasions (2017, 2018) … a solid performer on the softball diamond, competing on a varsity level in 2016 and 2017 for head coach Kevin Baker … won Defensive Most Valuable Player honors in softball in 2016 … captured Most Improved Player honors in softball in 2017 … named All-Conference and Most Improved Player in volleyball at the close of the 2018 slate, under head coach Kevin Garganeus … received Athlete of the Year honors in 2018 … captured the conference championship in basketball in 2015.
PERSONAL: Sydney Bowen … daughter of Angie and Doug Bowen … born May 28, 2000 … has two siblings, Cameron and John … graduated Magna Cum Laude … member of Beta Club and National Honor Society … was active in Jag Pals in high school … played AAU for the Mt. Holly Stars, under head coach Harry Adams, in both 2013 and 2017.
