SOPHOMORE (2024): Earned the starting nod in 12 of 13 matches for the Spirits in 2024 … emerged with one assist, which came at Wesleyan (Ga.) on September 8th … also attempted two shots against the Wolves in that match … closed out clashes with Sweet Briar (September 20) and Mary Baldwin (October 2) with two shots … had one shot against both Methodist (September 29) and Greensboro (October 30) during the season … a top defender for the Spirits, she played a key role in helping Salem battle to three one-goal differences in USA South Conference action.Â
FIRST YEAR (2023): One of three Spirits to play and start all 16 matches on the season … made her collegiate debut against Hollins (Sept. 1), earning the first of 11 consecutive starts … had the first shot of her career in a clash with crosstown rival Carolina University (Sept. 23) … came through with a shot in a setback to Brevard (Oct. 3) … delivered an assist in a 3-1 victory over N.C. Wesleyan (Oct. 25).
PREP: Graduated from Tri-Cities High School in 2023 … began her prep career at Woodland High School in 2019, playing under the direction of Frank Braun in 2019 … joined the Tri-Cities unit, playing three seasons (2020-22) under the head coach Antoine Johnson … distinguished as the Bulldog Most Valuable Player in 2021 … named as the Difference Maker Award winner in 2022 … received the Scholar-Athlete Award in 2023 … competed on the Soccer Club circuit since 2018, where she played for the Atlanta Fire United (2018-19) … spent three seasons on the Southside Heat, which captured the Georgia President Cup Championship, under head coach Reggie Askew from 2021-23.
PERSONAL: Sky Sykes … daughter of Zoie and Terrance Sykes … born on July 26, 2005 … has four siblings—Kylain Gaston, Zion Sykes, Elijah Sykes, Terrance Sykes Jr. … recipient of numerous academic honors while at from Tri-Cities High School, including: AP Scholar with Honor, National African-American Recognition Program, Page STAR Student, A-honor Roll, Principal’s Scholar Award, Outstanding Senior in Science, AP Biology Award, AP Language and Composition Award, Senior with Distinction, Academic and Community Excellence … an active member in National Honor Society, Tri-Music Honor Society, Student Government Association, Student Governance Council as well as Fulton County Student Advisory Council.
