Biography

SENIOR (2019): Closed out her senior campaign by ranking in the top-five of seven major statistical categories including total attacks (638—3rd), attack percentage (.147—3rd), kills (184—4th), kills / set (1.92—t-3rd), assisted blocks (26—5th), total blocks (26—5th), blocks / set (0.27—5th) … slammed home six kills in the opening match against Wilson (Aug. 30) … enjoyed a solid opening day of the Route 42 Classic with nine kills apiece against Delaware Valley (Aug. 31) and Eastern Mennonite (Aug. 31) … reached double figure kills (10), while adding seven digs, in a win at Brevard (Sept. 6) … drove home 10 kills, while posting a .292 attack percentage, in the home-opener against Piedmont International (Sept. 17) … came through with three assisted blocks and six kills in the USA South opener with Methodist (Sept. 25) … posted a .318 attack percentage, due in large part to eight kills, against William Peace (Sept. 28) … responsible for 10 kills, three digs and a .233 attack percentage in a clash with Mary Baldwin (Oct. 19) … established her single-match season-high in kills (15), while posting a .355 attack percentage, three assisted blocks and two digs against Averett (Oct. 22) … topped double-digit kills in back-to-back matches against Greensboro (Oct. 26) and Pfeiffer (Oct. 30), posting 12 and 10, respectively … closed out her career with nine kills and four digs versus Greensboro (Nov. 5) in the opening round of the USA South Conference tournament.

JUNIOR (2018):
Wrapped up the season ranked among the top-five in four statistical categories including kills (214—2nd), kills / set (2.25—2nd), assisted blocks (23—t-4th) and total blocks (24—t-5th) … opened the season with five kills and two digs against Lynchburg (Aug. 31) … had the first of four double-digit kill outings (12) at Eastern Mennonite (Aug. 31), assisting on a pair of blocks … established her single-match season-high in kills (15) in a meeting with Bryn Mawr (Sept. 1) … drove home 11 kills and three assisted blocks in a four-set meeting against Lynchburg (Sept. 7) … capped off a five-set win against Averett (Sept. 25) with 12 kills and two digs … slammed home 13 kills, while recording a .458 attack percentage, against Methodist (Oct. 1) … tallied 12 kills at Meredith (Oct. 4) while posting a .348 attack percentage … came through with 10 kills and a .364 attack percentage versus William Peace (Oct. 13) … followed with a 13-kill, .522 attack percentage match later that afternoon against Mary Baldwin (Oct. 13) … came through with 10 kills and four digs against Greensboro (Oct. 20) … had a pair of 10-kill outings versus both Oglethorpe (Oct. 26) and Methodist (Oct. 30).

SOPHOMORE (2017): Finished among the top-five among statistical leaders in kills (233—4th), kills / set (1.97—4th), assisted blocks (56—3rd), blocks / set (0.50—3rd) … began the season with five assisted blocks, four kills and three digs against Catholic (Sept. 1) … drove home eight kills and assisted on five blocks against Lynchburg (Sept. 2) … ended a five-set win over Piedmont (Sept. 8) with five kills and five assisted blocks … followed with five kills in a clash with Hollins (Sept. 8) … drove home 10 kills, while adding five digs and an assisted blocks at Bridgewater (Sept. 9) … helped the Spirits sweep John Wesley (Sept. 12) with 10 kills and three assisted blocks … put together a three-match stretch of double-digit kills against Pfeiffer (11), Greensboro (12) and William Peace (10) in early October … contributed 10 kills and a .421 attack percentage versus Ferrum (Oct. 14) … added 11 kills and two assisted blocks against N.C. Wesleyan (Oct. 14) … enjoyed her final double-digit kill outing of the season against Meredith (Oct. 20), finishing with 12.

FRESHMAN (2016): Completed her first season by ranking among the top-five in five statistical categories including kills (210—3rd), kills / set (1.97—3rd), assisted blocks (31—4th), total blocks (33—4th) and blocks / set (0.31—4th) … made her collegiate debut at Eastern Mennonite (Sept. 2), notching six kills and four digs … followed with eight kills in a four-set match against Lynchburg (Sept. 2) … enjoyed her first double-digit kill performance (10) at Greensboro (Sept. 20) to go along with three digs and two assisted blocks … came through with 10 kills and two assisted blocks versus Greensboro (Sept. 24) … drove home 17 kills, amassing a .447 attack percentage, while adding three digs and two assisted blocks at Guilford (Oct. 5) … responsible for 14 kills (.400 attack percentage) along with two digs at Agnes Scott (Oct. 14) … had 10 kills and three digs in a five-set match with LaGrange (Oct. 15) … notched her final double-digit kill outing of the slate (14) while adding three digs at Maryville (Oct. 27).

PREP: Graduated from Richmond Senior High School in 2016 … a varsity letterwinner in volleyball.

PERSONAL: Madelyn Carol Chappell … daughter of Michelle and Patrick Chappell … born June 24, 1998 … has two siblings, Savannah and Taylor … member of National Honor Society and Beta Club … was named a Top-30 senior and graduated in the top five percent of her class.
