Winston-Salem, NC-In front of a packed house, the Salem College basketball team dropped a home game to Covenant College, 65-57. Kelsey Rector (State Road, NC) led the Spirits with 21 points on the night. Salem drops to 2-6 with the loss, and Covenant improves to 1-6.
The game went back and forth for the first fifteen minutes before Covenant was able to take a 31-23 advantage into the break. The Spirits made several runs in the second half but were never able to catch up to the Scots.
LaSashia Connelly (Morganton, NC) added 16 points including 4-5 from behind the three-point line. Shamaz Denerson (Atlanta, GA) led Salem with 8 rebounds, while Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC) added 4 blocks. Rector led the Spirits with 5 assists. Kiaria Cooper led Covenant with 15 points.
Salem returns to action on Saturday when they host Huntingdon College in a GSAC match at 2:00 pm.
