RALEIGH, N.C. –  Salem junior outside hitter Aspen Bradley, who finished with 23 kills in a two-match performance in Raleigh, N.C., became the fourth player in program history to top the 1,000-kill mark in the first set of a three-set victory over Eastern Mennonite when the two teams clashed as part of a tri-match at William Peace. Bradley and Salem finished 1-1 on the day, suffering a setback in their opening match to the host Pacers (14-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-14) before taking the second match in three sets over Eastern Mennonite (27-25, 25-10, 25-18).

Bradley becomes the fourth member of Salem's 1,000-kill Club, joining Kylie Taffer, Taylor Moulton and Valeria Rosa Lopez as the only Spirits to accomplish the feat. Bradley reached the career milestone in 94 matches, becoming the quickest Salem player to reach 1,000 career kills.

Coincidentally, Bradley not only reached 1,000 collegiate kills, but she also regained the top spot in Salem history for most kills in a single season (365). Bradley ascended to that mark in 2022 with 351 in her first year, before Valeria Rosa Lopez passed the Redmond, Oregon, native with 362 last season.

William Peace 3, Salem 1

William Peace responded to an opening set loss against the Spirits to take the next three frames and even the season series at 1-1 by virtues of a 14-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-14 triumph at home. Georgia Grace Anderson led the way with 11 kills, while Chassie Jacops and Madeline Simpson added nine kills apiece. Jordan Juanes led the defense with 19 digs.

Salem was led offensively by the duo of Aspen Bradley and Anna Rymer, who came through with 15 and 14 kills, respectively. Rymer reached the double-digit kill mark for the 15th time this season, boasting a .500 attack percentage along the way. Leah Rymer dished out 40 assists for the Spirits' offense, which struggled to find its rhythm with a .171 attack percentage.

McKenzie Tullock anchored the back row with 18 digs, a team-high, while Olivia Torres added 15 and Leah Rymer was responsible for 13 digs. Makailey Albright and Bradley also reached double-digit digs with 12 and 11, respectively.

FIRST SET: Salem broke a four-all deadlock early in the first set with kills from Bradley and Maia Johnson and used a five-point stretch, highlighted by blocks from Anna Rymer, to eventually move in front 17-8. Bradley added two kills and Abrielle Eckenroth came through with one of her own, providing the Spirits with a 21-8 advantage. Four kills down the stretch provided the Spirits with a 1-0 lead with an 11-point victory.

SECOND SET: As William Peace looked to even the match at one set apiece, the two teams traded jabs and tied each other 13 times over the course of the frame. Knotted at 13-all, William Peace scored three straight, assuming a 16-13 lead, but Salem answered with kills from Johnson and Olivia Torres to draw even at 16. Two kills from Anna Rymer and one off the hand of Aspen Bradley helped Salem forge in front 22-19, but Simpson delivered four kills down the stretch and held the Spirits to just one point to claim the victory.

THIRD SET: William Peace carried the momentum of the second set victory into the third, posting 14 kills and a .268 attack percentage while limiting the Spirits to nine kills and forcing six errors. Bradley provided the Spirits with a 13-11 lead, but a slam from Anderson sparked a four-point run by William Peace, which moved in front 15-13. A service error by Anderson brought Salem within one, but eight straight points with Katie Arena in serve allowed the Pacers to close out the 25-15 win.

FOURTH SET: Looking to seize the chance to close out the match in four sets, William Peace again came through with 14 kills, notching a .519 attack percentage, as Salem's struggles continued on offense. The Pacers' offense continued to click on all cylinders, jumping out to a 12-5 lead in the early stages of the fourth frame on a slam from Juanes. Two kills from Bradley, along with a timely slam from Ella Brameus, trimmed the deficit to 15-11, before an Anderson kill provided William Peace with the 18-11 lead. The Pacers surrendered just three points down the stretch to earn the four-set win against Salem.
Salem 3, Eastern Mennonite 0
After seeing its program-record 13 match winning streak snapped earlier in the day at the Hermann Center, Salem responded with an emphatic three-set victory (27-25, 25-10, 25-18) against Eastern Mennonite. The win by the Spirits just the third in the all-time series between the two programs.

Anna Rymer closed out the match with the team-high in kills (nine), followed by Bradley's eight. Maia Johnson delivered seven as the team closed with 36 as a unit. Leah Rymer capped off the match with 28 assists.

Leah Rymer notched a double-double with 13 digs, a team-best, while Makailey Albright converted 11 digs in the victory.

FIRST SET: The two teams traded points throughout the course of the opening set, separated by just three points on two occasions, while resulted in an Eastern Mennonite 17-14 lead. However, Salem retaliated to draw even at 19. In the late stages, locked at 25, Johnson and Bradley drove home back-to-back kills to complete the opening set win.

SECOND SET: Bradley ensured that her team established itself with three kills in the first nine points, helping Salem assume the 9-3 lead. A kill from Leah Rymer extended the Spirits lead to 13-6, but Mara Woolford answered with a slam for Eastern Mennonite. With Leah Rymer in serve, four attack error miscues coupled with kills by Anna Rymer and Abrielle Eckenroth resulted in a 20-7 Salem lead. Bradley added a kill down the stretch, while the Royals committed three errors to make for a 15-point triumph.

THIRD SET: Salem came through with its third set victory, the 16th of the season and 10th in October behind 11 kills. Facing a six-point deficit, 12-6, Johnson delivered a slam that provided a spark for the Salem offense that scored six unanswered points and brought the game to a 12-all deadlock. Anna Rymer added two kills and Leah Rymer came through with a service ace to provide the Spirits with a 16-14 lead. Four points later, tied at 17, Bradley used her service game, along with kills from Eckenroth and Ellie Scherer, to push Salem in front 23-17. Johnson delivered the final two kills of the match, providing Salem with its 25th win of the season.
