Salem Volleyball secured a dominant win tonight against Warren Wilson to extend their home winning streak to 23 games. The Spirits won in straight sets with 25-5, 25-12, and 25-8.
Set one started with a bang, as Salem rolled out six unanswered points served by Madison Bozarth. Throughout the entire set, the Spirits kept the Owls from stringing together more than one point. The longest run of the set came at the end, with Salem rattling off eight straight, seven served by Jolina Bun.
Set two started off a lot tighter, with the Owls staying within a few points until the Spirits hit 11, where they went on another eight point run. This streak was started with serves from Bun, with Grace Royer subbing in to serve three of them, securing two aces. Warren Wilson was able to tack on a few more, but Makailey Albright was solid up front and secured the last two points for the Spirits.
Set three started off similar to set two, both teams trading points, until Taylor Cook and Katelynn Miller slammed down two kills to bring the momentum to the Spirits. Another long Bozarth serving run, combined with kills from Leah Rymer, Aspen Bradley, and Tenley McDonald, brought Salem up to an 18-6 lead. The Owls were able to secure two more points before Rymer took over at serve to finish the contest. Two big kills from Bradley sealed the deal, continuing the Spirit's home winning streak.
Some notable stats from the evening were Salem's .468 hitting percentage, six aces, and a whopping 41 kills.
The Spirits will next be in action this Saturday September 20th at 12pm and 4pm where they take on NC Wesleyan and Carolina U in a Family Weekend Tri-Match.
