Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team struggled to score tonight in a 58-41 loss against Covenant College. Jojo Hall (Concord, NC) led the Spirits with 11 points and 7 rebounds. Salem falls to 1-4, while Covenant improves to 2-3.
Both teams struggled in the first half shooting the ball. The Spirits shot 28 percent from the field and Covenant shot 24 percent. The Lady Scots would go into the half with a 26-16 advantage.
The scoring picked up in the second half, but the Spirits were never able to get within 10 points. Sarah Smith (Hays, NC) led the Spirits with 11 rebounds. Jessie Blankenship had a game high 17 points for Covenant, and the Lady Scots had a 43-34 advantage on the boards.
Salem hosts conference foes LaGrange on Sunday at 2:00.
