Softball splits with Agnes Scott on the road

Decatur, GA-The Salem College softball team split a doubleheader with Agnes Scott for the 2nd time this season in Great South regular season action. The Spirits cruised to a 5-0 win in game 1, and they dropped a 9-5 decision in game 2. The Spirits remain in 3rd-place in the GSAC going into the final week of regular season play. Salem is now 5-5 in the GSAC and 8-18 overall, while Agnes Scott is 8-4 and 13-9.

Allie Watkins (Locust, NC) pitched a shutout in game 1 for Salem. She only allowed 3 hits in 7 innings of play during game 1.

Kayla Kennedy (Goldsboro, NC), Karson Chapman (Lewisville, NC) and Watkins all finished with 3 hits for the day. Kierston Garner (Danbury, NC) led the team with 2 runs batted in. Watkins also smashed a home-run in game 1.

The Spirits return to GSAC action tomorrow as they take on Wesleyan in Macon, GA.
