Softball cruises to two wins at Wesleyan

Macon, GA-The Salem College softball team won both games of a doubleheader at Wesleyan today to stay tied for the lead in the Great South Regular Season standings with Agnes Scott. The Spirits will take on the Scotties at home this Friday to see who wins the regular season crown. Lauryn Smith (King, NC) continued her hot pitching to help Salem win game 2 (8-0). The Spirits improved to 13-17 and 5-1 in the GSAC, while Wesleyan fell to 3-33 and 0-6. 

Smith only allowed 1 hit in 4 innings and 0 runs. Morgan Coleman (Colfax, NC) came in the 5th to close out the game. Allie Watkins (Locust, NC) pitched a shut-out in the 1st game to help Salem win 7-0 in 7 innings. 

Kayla Kennedy (Goldsboro, NC) and Kristi Morton (Trussville, AL) continued their hot-play at the plate. They each went 4 for 8. Coleman, Watkins, and Kierston Garner (Danbury, NC) each had 3 hits. Coleman led the Spirits with 3 runs batted in, and Morton crossed the plate 3 times to lead the team in runs.

The Spirits will play the Scotties this Friday at 2:00 and 4:00.
