Soccer sets NCAA record in 3-0 win at Wesleyan

Macon, GA-The Salem College soccer team earned a place in the NCAA Division III soccer record books today with 3 of the fastest consecutive goals in a row in DIII history. The Spirits won the Great South conference game at Wesleyan 3-0. Salem improves to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in the GSAC. 

Salem scored 3 goals in 1 minute and 5 seconds, moving into second in the record books as they passed Otterbein who score 3 goals in 1:06 in 2002. The only school to score 3 goals in a row faster was Emory against Agnes Scott in 1989. 

In the first-half, Salem shot 16 times but could not score. They changed that around quickly in the second half. Jordan Lanier scored at 49:41 off of a cross by Hannah Huskey. Sydney Priest scored 33 seconds later on a pass by Brooke Bukas. Bukas scored in another 33 seconds on a pass by Morgan Canepa. Kimmi Templeton, Sarah Slates, and Paige Ketchum split time to earn the shutout in goal.

Salem out-shot Wesleyan 31-0 and they had a 9-0 corner kick advantage. The Spirits will play against Wesleyan again tomorrow at 12:00.
