Softball splits two back and forth games with Guilford

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team and Guilford went back and forth as the two teams split a double-header tonight. Logan Bowling jacked a massive three-run homer in the first game to cap a comeback in the 7-6 Salem win. Guilford scored seven runs in the seventh inning to take game two, 10-5. Salem is now 6-8 overall.

Brianna Morris picked up the win on the mound in game one as she allowed 6 earned runs on 16 hits. Hannah Nolan pitched six strong innings in game two, before giving up 6 earned runs in the seventh inning in the loss.

Jennifer Vitarelli led the team with 5 hits and Briana Crumley had 4 hits. Kierston Garner added 3 hits for the day. Bowling and Montana Lineberger led the team with 3 runs batted in. Vitarelli led the Spirits with 4 runs, and Maggie Fritts added 3 scores. Vitarelli also had 2 doubles, while Fritts, Nolan, and Lineberger each had 1 double.

The Spirits will head to Virginia to take on Randolph this Sunday.
