Salem defeats Meredith on the road

Raleigh, NC-The Salem College soccer team picked up an important USA South road victory in a 2-1 win at Meredith. Jordan Lanier had a goal and an assist in the win. Salem is now 4-0 in the USA South and 11-2 overall.

In the physical contest, Lanier got the scoring started off of a Maddie Crumpton assist in the 20th minute. After Salem missed a penalty kick, Meredith equalized in the 32nd minute. The two teams went into the half tied.

Salem had several close chances in the second half, including a shot off of the crossbar. Chaniece Moss scored the game winning goal in the 74th minute on an assist by Lanier. Hannah Wagner earned the win in goal with 2 saves. Salem held a 19-8 shot advantage, including a 12-3 shots on goal advantage.

The Spirits will return home on Wednesday to play another important USA South match against Ferrum.
