BREVARD, N.C. – The Salem soccer team surrendered a pair of first half goals, both to Kennedy Kelly, in a road match up with Brevard on Wednesday afternoon. The Tornados, who emerged with a 3-0 win, were held in check by Salem goalkeeper
Marissa Doutrich, who came through with 10 saves.
The Tornados found the back of the net in the 10th-minute when Kennedy Kelly drove home a pass from teammate Mikayla Zvekan, resulting in the 1-0 advantage.
Brevard stretched the first half lead to two, following a goal from Kelley, after a pass from Mikayla Rubin.
The final goal of the afternoon from the Tornados came off the foot of Austin Huffman in the 76th-minute.
Brevard capped off the match with 40 shots, including 13 shots on goal. The tandem of Zvekan and Mikayla Rubin led the way in shots with nine and eight, respectively. Rubin led all Tornados in shots on goal with four.
Salem finished with two shots on the afternoon, both from
Darilyn Nieto.
Marissa Doutrich led the way in net with 10 saves, while her counterpart Abby Nunez made one stop.
