Salem Soccer opened their season in a tight match against Johnson & Wales, falling in a 1-2 result.
The Wildcats started strong, netting a goal in the 19th minute. While the goal was followed by a few saves from Freshman Goalie Michaela Iapaluccio, JWU was able to secure a second in the 31st minute.
A bright spot for the Spirits was Senior Darilyn Nieto, who scored off of the assist from Giselle Ramos in the 51st minute. Iapaluccio also tacked on 7 more saves throughout the game.
Despite the improvement in the second half, the Spirits were unable to outlast the Wildcats, and ultimately fell 1-2.
Salem Soccer will next be in action on Monday September 1st, when they head to Danville, VA to take on Averett University.
