Salem Soccer started out their two-game weekend with a matchup against Hollins,putting another high-scoring performance and taking home a 4-2 win.

Salem's four goals were sandwiched between Hollins' two, with Hollins quick to open up the scoring. They were able to capitalize on an opportunity in the 7th minute, giving them an early lead. Darilyn Nieto was quick to answer, connecting with a pass from Sophia Zary and finding the back of the net in the 9th minute to even the score. In the 25th minute, the Spirits were able to capitalize on a corner kick set piece from the foot of Pilar Neumann. Giselle Ramos was able to find a hole in the scrum and get another one by the Hollins goalie.Â

The Zary-Nieto connection was firing on all cylinders tonight, with Zary sending the perfect through ball for Nieto to capitalize on for her second goal of the afternoon. The Spirits left half one with a 3-1 lead.Â

Half two came with a strong defensive presence, neither team scoring for the first 15 minutes. Running the play that has worked time and time again for the spirits, Pilar Neumann sent a through ball up to Darilyn Nieto for her second assist of the night and completing Nieto's hat trick in the 61st minute. After four unanswered goals, Hollins was able to find the back of the net one last time in the 81st minute.Â

The Spirits are ready to take this momentum into their home contest on Sunday September 14th, where they take on Berea College.Â
