Soccer Remains Unbeaten at Home

Salem Soccer closed out a busy weekend of Salem Athletics with a 3-2 win in their first ever matchup with Berea College.

After not losing a game since August 29th, the Spirits were looking to continue their winning streak to close out their two-game weekend. Salem took control early on in the first half, scoring their first goal in the 10th minute. The Spirits worked the ball out of the backfield and sent it through off the foot of Giselle Ramos, where Darilyn Nieto did what she does best: finding the back of the net.

After some solid possession and passing throughout the first half, another scoring opportunity came for the Spirits. Olivia Slayton sent another great ball through for Darilyn Nieto who used her strong foot skills to secure another goal for Salem. Berea was able to answer in the 35th minute, threading the needle through Salem's strong defense.

Half two came with an early tying goal as Berea scored in the 54th minute. The Spirits put up a strong defensive effort throughout the half as Berea continued to ramp up their attack. The defense was rewarded in the 72nd minute, with Ramos and Nieto connecting again for a beautiful goal from the top of the box.

The Spirits will be back in action on Saturday September 20th, where they play their last non-conference game at Randolph.
