Game Recap: Volleyball |

Volleyball Doesn’t Drop A Set in Home Tri-Match

Salem Volleyball continued their dominant streak today in their Tri-Match with Johnson C. Smith and Johnson & Wales. With two straight set wins, never losing more than 18 points in a set, their win streak extends to seven.

The Spirits were able to capitalize early in game one, taking advantage of the seven JCSU attack errors and strong serving in set one. After creating a comfortable lead, Aspen Bradley closed out the final four points of the set on serve alongside Sadie Rich's well-timed attacks, securing the 25-12 win.

Salem built on their set one dominance in set two, pulling away from a few close points in the beginning. Aspen Bradley had another solid service run to put the Spirits up 12-5. A combination of Madison Bozarth's five serve streak and Makailey Albright's four kills helped Salem keep their foot on the gas to finish out set two 25-10.

Set three brought a lot more back-and-forth between the two teams, neither team able to string more than a few points together for most of the set. A few fresh players off the bench brought the final spark Salem needed to finish off their first game of the day 25-15.

After watching an intense four-set match between JWU and JCSU, the Spirits were chomping at the bit to get back onto the court and finish what they had started. Salem picked up right where they left off. After a seven-point run with Leah Rymer back to serve, there was no question who was in control of the set. Salem kept the momentum and finished the set 25-11.

JWU was not going down without a fight. Set two was the toughest of the day for the Spirits, with JWU no more than a few points behind them nearly the entire set. A kill from Ella Brameus and a few solid serves from Jolina Bun gave the Spirits a boost near the end of the set to pull them ahead 21-16. Salem only gave up two more points on their way to a 25-18 victory.

The Spirits final set of the day was their most dominant, with JWU unable to score into double digits. A whopping 17 kills with only two errors Salem's 10 unanswered points to end the set were the icing on the cake of an exceptional day of volleyball.

With their wins today, the Spirits added to their impressive 22-game win streak at home, going back to the 2023 season.

The Spirits start their conference season on Tuesday, where they are travelling to Pfeiffer for a 6pm contest.
