Salem Soccer took on Methodist University at home, ending with a 0-0 draw.
Â
Even through the wet field conditions, both teams showed up ready to roll. From the start, the Monarchs brought attack after attack on the Spirits back line. Giselle Ramos held strong at center back all game, stopping numerous Methodist attacks while Michaela Iapaluccio was a brick wall. The Salem Freshman goalkeeper racked up a whopping 16 saves for the Spirits today, multiple of them coming from the Monarchs 11 corner kicks.
Â
The Spirits were only able to send five shots, with Darilyn Nieto taking four, two of which were on goal.Â
Â
Coming off of a tough loss earlier in the week to SVU who was ranked #2 in the preseason poll, a tie with the #3 ranked Methodist is a great sign for the Spirits moving forward into the rest of the conference season.
Â
Salem Soccer will next be in action on Wednesday October 1st, where they take on Mary Baldwin at home.Â
