Salem Track & Field competed in their second meet of the season, with multiple athletes setting new Personal Bests.
In the 800m, both Allyson Freeman and Sophie Miller improved on their times. Freeman ran six seconds faster, earning a 2:42.29, while Miller shaved off two seconds for a 2:48.29 time. Triana Smallwood also ran the 800m, crossing the finish line at 2:46.45.
Ashlynn Owens ran both the 100m and 200m, securing times of 14.08 and 29.27 respectively. Lauren Ringwood made her 200m debut, running a 30.16. Ringwood also competed in long jump, jumping 4.15m.
The Salem throwers also racked up a few PBs, with Sonia Cherry improving in both Shotput and Discus. Cherry threw a .06m improvement of 7.72m in shot and a 2.23m improvement of 24.83 in disc. Skylyr Yearby also had a strong showing, throwing just behind her PB with a 7.08m in shot. Yearby did throw a .09m improvement in disc, securing a final measurement of 20.62.
Quay Atkinson also threw shot, heaving a 6.59m. Payton Dolin put up a PB in disc, improving by .57m to secure a 16.55m throw. Ocean Hedrick-Medel debuted in both shot and disc, throwing 6.44m and 18.25m respectively.
The Spirits will next be in action on April 3rd at the Tornado Classic.
