Emory, VA-The Salem College tennis team opened up their 2014 campaign with a 2-7 loss at Emory & Henry of the ODAC today in Virginia. The match was the first for the Spirits under new head coach, Kevin Fleck. Salem won at number three doubles and number six singles. The Spirits fall to 0-1.

Andrea Akers, playing at #1 singles, and Ashley Koehler at number two singles, each improved in their matches. After they both fell 6-0 in their first sets, they each closed the second set with three wins. The young squad continued to improve as the match progressed.
