Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College tennis team lost 5-4 to Averett in USA South East Division action. Grace Wilson won both of her matches for the Spirits in the tight battle. Salem falls to 3-2 in the USA South and 6-6 overall, while Averett improves to 2-2 and 4-5.

Most of the matches today at Bert Lain complex were close. Abby Williams and Wilson took an important 9-8 victory at #2 doubles and Lauren Holman and Carmen Wilkins won 8-3 at #3 doubles to give Salem a 2-1 lead after doubles. Victories by Wilson at #5 singles and Lindsay Young at #4 singles were not enough to give Salem the match. 

The tennis team will play at Pfeiffer tomorrow at 4:00.
