FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Salem tennis team saw its 2023-24 season come to an end following a 5-0 setback to host Methodist in the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament.

The Monarchs posted their seventh all-time win in the head-to-head series, after opening the match with an 8-1 victory from the No. 3 doubles tandem of Caitlin Tihanovich and Katie Sechrist, who downed Cadence Durham and Abrielle Eckenroth.

The second point was delivered by the Monarchs' duo of Toni Laney and Veva Willocks, 8-1, as they defeated Adley Keim and Mariana Faint. That lead grew to 3-0 for Methodist, who received a point from the second-seeded combination of Emma Hulicki and Annabelle Subirats as they took down Emily Griffis and Alana Bridges by a score of 8-1.

Willocks came through with her second point of the afternoon for Methodist in No. 4 singles, downing Alyx Diggs by margins of 6-0, 6-1. The fifth and final point of the match came from Sechrist, who posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Eckenroth in No. 6 singles.

Faint wraps up the 2023-24 season by boasting the best singles record (7-8) and paired with Keim to earn the most doubles wins (seven) of any Salem duo.
