Cross Country made the short trip to Charlotte, NC to compete in the Royals Invitational, where multiple athletes once again secured Personal Bests. The Spirits placed 18th out of 19 teams.
Finishing in 113th, Triana Smallwood was once again the first Salem runner to cross the finish line with a time of 24:54. This secured another PB for Smallwood, this time by 47 seconds. Next across the line was Ashlynn Owens in 122nd. Finishing at 25:58, Owens was only four seconds away from another Personal Best.
Next in was Anika Peight, running a new PB by six seconds with a time of 26:47 and finishing in 127th. Right on her heels once again was Chais White, crossing the line in 128th. White also secured a PB by 46 seconds, running a 26:53.
Wrapping up the day for the Spirits was Madison Lamy, running the most impressive PB of the season. Finishing in 147th, Lamy ran a 32:45, which improved on her last time by 7:53.
The Spirits will be racing again on November 1st for the USA South Championship Meet.
