Cross Country competed in the Spartan Classic today, finishing 13th out of 14 teams. All five athletes who competed for Salem earned Personal Bests in their 5k race.
Coming in first for the Spirits was Trianna Smallwood with a time of 25:41, defeating her personal best by 3:42 and placing 78th. Not far behind was Ashlynn Owens at 25:55 in 79th. Owens improved by 1:36.
Coming in at 84th was Freshman Anika Peight, competing in her first collegiate meet. Her time was 26:53. Crossing the finish line a minute later was Chais White with a time of 27:39, improving by 2:02.
Closing out the evening for Salem was Madison Lamy, who also competed for the first time, securing 99th and a time of 40:38.
The Spirits are looking forward to more PBs next Friday where they travel to Charlotte for the Royals Invitational.
