The Salem Cross Country Team raced in their first meet today since 2019, finishing 11th out of the 12 teams participating. 

Salem's top finisher was Freshman Ashlynn Owens with a time of 27:31, placing 56th. Allyson Freeman was right on her heels, finishing 57th with a time of 27:33. Another pair of Spirits finished a few minutes later, with Freshman Triana Smallwood and Junior Chais White finishing within 20 seconds of each other at 69th and 70th. Their times were 29:23 and 29:41 respectively. 

Coming in at 74th was Sophomore Maleah Flagler, who also plays basketball for the Spirits. She finished with a time of 30:37. Rounding out the Salem starting six was Peyton Harris, who came in at 84th with a time of 33:45.

The Spirits are looking to build off of their first meet when they compete at the Yeti Invitational in Shelby, NC.
