Salem Tennis traveled to take on Pfeiffer and Randolph-Macon, where they fell 0-4 and 0-7.

Pfeiffer got off to a hot start in doubles, taking down both the No. 1 doubles team of Charlize Green/Daisy Ortiz Mendoza and the No. 2 doubles team of LaKasia Williams/Samantha Smiley 6-0. Mariana Faint and Chloe Koons were able to take a game off the Pfeiffer No. 3 doubles team, but ultimately fell 1-6.Â

Since the match was played to decision, the Falcons only needed three more points to end the match. Green at No. 2 singles finished first with an 0-6, 0-6 result. Smiley and Koons followed soon after at No. 5 and No. 6, finishing at 6-2, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-2 respectively.Â

The other three Spirits were playing competitive matches. Adley Keim at No. 1 singles had just finished a tight first set at 4-6. LaKasia Williams had lost set one 0-6, but had secured two games so far in set two at No. 3 singles. Faint at No. 4 singles had lost set one 2-6, but was close in set two when it was called off at 4-5.Â

Match two against Randolph-Macon out stronger for the Spirits, with No. 1 and No. 2 doubles both taking games off their opponents. Green/Ortiz Mendoza finished 1-6 at No. 1 and Williams/Smiley finished 2-6. No. 3 doubles was a bright spot for Salem, with Koons/Faint taking their match the distance, but ultimately falling 5-7.Â

Jessea James was one of the first to fall at No. 6 singles with an 0-6, 0-6 result. Ortiz Mendoza finished soon after with a 1-6, 0-6 result at No. 5. Next was Green at No. 2, picking up a few games in the 1-6, 2-6 match.Â

At No. 1, Keim played a solid match, staying competitive in the 4-6, 4-6 result. Williams also played well at No. 3, ending at 3-6, 2-6. Faint had the closest set of the day at No. 4, bouncing back from a 2-6 set one loss to bring set two to a tiebreak. After going the distance, Faint ultimately fell 6-7, 7-9.Â

The Spirits will next be in action on September 12th at home against Averett for their last fall match of the season.Â
