WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – N.C. Wesleyan delivered 21 hits, including eight extra-base knocks, to earn a doubleheader sweep of Salem by scores of 8-0 (5 innings) and 13-1 at Blixt Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Battling Bishops had five doubles in the second game of the series after notching a double and a home run in the first game.
Salem's offense struggled to find its rhythm, combining for five hits in both games. Three of those hits came in game two and among those was a base hit to left by
Emma Greeson, which scored
Rheanne Tullock from third base. Another key in the offense was
NeVaeha George, who finished with two hits, including a double in game one.
Riley Dennis, who entered the circle for the Spirits in both games, fanned three Battling Bishop hitters in game one before making one strikeout in game two of the series. Teammate
Carmen Duffey fanned two as the game two starter for Salem.

-Ragan Holloman led off the fourth with a single to second for the Battling Bishops and two batters later, with one out, Kayla Simmons hit a two-run home run over the centerfield wall for the 2-0 lead.
-Emily Humphrey opened the Battling Bishops' fifth with a single to left, moving to second on a sacrifice bunt.
-Savannah Bain put runners on the corner with a single through the left side of the infield before Hollomon loaded the bases by drawing a walk. Kyiah Simmons delivered with a double down the left field line, scoring both Humphrey and Bain as the Battling Bishops extended their lead to 4-0.
-Kayla Simmons kept the N.C. Wesleyan offense rolling with a single into left, plating Holloman for the fifth run of the game.
-Alexis Whitfield reached base on a hard single to short, scoring pinch runner Kylyn Dean for the 6-0 lead for N.C. Wesleyan.
-The Battling Bishops capitalized on a single up the middle by Humphrey in the fifth, scoring two runs on a base knock from Humphrey, resulting in an 8-0 advantage.

-Skyler Walker opened the game with a base hit to short before advancing on a stolen base. Savannah Bain followed by reaching on a miscue in the Salem infield, allowing Walker to score from second for the early 1-0 lead.
-Bain provided the second N.C. Wesleyan run of the first inning, capitalizing on a Spirits error.
-Ramzie Bryant led off the second inning with a walk before being replaced on the base pads by Frances Hanshew. Hanshew would score for the Battling Bishops on a double to left centerfield, scoring on a double off the bat of Savannah Bain, resulting in a 3-0 lead.
-Aleah Jones put the fourth run of the game on the scoreboard for the Battling Bishops after Ramzie Bryant drove a double into right centerfield.
-Alexis Whitfield traded places with Bryant at second on a double to left, scoring Bryant for the 5-0 N.C. Wesleyan lead.
-A bases-clearing triple off the bat of Savannah Bain plated Whitefield as the lead grew to 6-0.
