RALEIGH, N.C. – Meredith combined 22 hits along with a pair of complete game pitching performances from Lillie Davis and Kaylee Manning to earn a sweep of Salem in USA South Conference softball action on Sunday afternoon in Raleigh, N.C., by scores of 9-1 and 6-0.
The Spirits were led at the plate on the afternoon by first year's
Kayla Dick and
Jelene Avila, who came through with a double and an RBI in game one.
NeVaeha George had one hit in each game for the Salem's offense.

MEREDITH HIGHLIGHTS
-The Avenging Angels closed out the game with 11 hits. Three sluggers—Emilee Lewis (2-2), Ashbee Standridge (2-3) and Sarah Manis (3-3)—had multiple hits in the game.
-Standridge was responsible for the first run of the game, scoring Mia Staggs in the first.
-Avery Puryear sent a single up the middle in the first to plate Lewis for the 2-0 lead before two-run single off the bat of Mariah Bell doubled that margin to 4-0 for Meredith in the bottom of the first inning.
-Standridge sent a grand slam over the left centerfield wall to stretch the Meredith lead to 8-0 in the home half of the fourth.
-Standridge brought home Staggs in the sixth for the final run of the game, in the sixth.

-The Avenging Angels had three sluggers—Emilee Lewis (2-4), Sarah Manis (3-4) and Kaydon Roberson (3-4)—notch three hits in the game.
-Meredith owned a 3-0 lead at the close of the second inning highlighted by a single from Roberson and a Tess Spangenburg grounder.
-Lewis provided the fourth Meredith run of the game with a single to right, scoring Spangenburg, resulting in a 4-0 lead.
