Salem Tennis opened their brief fall season at home today with a match against Livingstone College where they fell 3-4.
The #1 doubles team of Charlize Green and Kimberly Ortiz Mendoza were the first to complete their match, falling 0-6. #2 doubles played a close match, with Daisy Ortiz Mendoza and La'Kasia Williams ending with a 4-6 result. Livingstone had to default the #3 doubles match, but had done enough to secure the doubles point and go up 1-0.
A few bright spots for the Spirits came at #1 and #4 singles. Adley Keim secured a dominant win at #1, only dropping three games on her way to a 6-2, 6-1 result. Kimberly Ortiz Mendoza bounced back after doubles and secured a 6-1, 6-4 win at #4.
Charlize Green and La'Kasia Williams competed at #2 and #3 singles, falling 2-6, 1-6 and 0-6, 0-6 respectively. Livingstone also defaulted the #6 singles match, but had done enough to secure a 4-3 win over the Spirits.
Salem Tennis will next be in action on October 4th where they take on Randolph-Macon and Pfeiffer.
