Salem Tennis traveled to take on Ferrum in their season opener, taking home the win 5-2.
The Spirits won the doubles point by default, as neither a No. 2 or No. 3 doubles team competed. Charlize Green and LaKasia Williams played in a battle of a one doubles match, but ultimately fell 4-6.
Ferrum also defaulted the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 singles matches, securing the win for the Spirits automatically.
Kimberly Ortiz-Mendoza played a dominant match at the No. 3 singles spot, securing Salem's first double-bagel of the season in a 6-0, 6-0 win. Adley Keim battled at No. 1 singles, but was defeated 2-6, 2-6.
Salem defaulted No. 2 singles, ending the match with a 5-2 score in favor of the Spirits.
Salem Tennis will next be in action on March 7th, where they host Columbia.
