Glenna Burress Patton graduated from Salem Academy in 1982 and went onto attend the University of North Carolina where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism in 1986.

Patton was a two-sport athlete for the Sabers, competing in both tennis and basketball.

Patton earned the prestigious Morehead-Cain Scholarship which allowed her to attend North Carolina.

Looking to make a positive impact for women, Patton founded WIST (women in sports technology). Patton is also the founder and CEO of SICKSPORTS, which focuses on inventing and reinventing brands that provide a broader experience for global consumers. The company focuses on combining technology, media, entertainment, music, sports, youth/kids and design on a global scale.

By founding her company, Patton managed to bring her career full circle as she merged her previous work experiences at MTV Networks, Sci Fi Europe, Hewlett-Packard, brand-focused companies that she consulted with along with an early career in sports television production.

Patton managed to use her 16 years of experience in the European market along with responsibilities she held in regions outside the United States as she built her company into a global success. She spent five years in Prague as the first marketing director of the Czechoslovakian entertainment company, Bonton.

While Patton was active in making a global impact, she remained loyal to Salem Academy, and in 2004 spoke to the Salem community about the HIV/AIDs pandemic through her affiliation with MTV. She also facilitated January Term internships with MTV Networks in London.

Patton also takes an active role in several campaigns through the University of North Carolina. She is part of “A Woman’s Gift” as well as organizing a visit with MTV Studios in London for the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Patton is a member of the Advisory Board of the International Beach Preservation trust, ensuring that beaches across the world are not decimated.

Patton currently lives in Menlo Park, California, where her career in marketing has allowed her to become chief executive for Creative MC, a swag-based company in California.
