Salem Beach Volleyball played in a highly competitive tournament weekend in Dallas, NC, taking home a 1-3 record.

Gaston College - 5-0

The Spirits started the weekend out on a high note, taking their first match in dominant fashion. Salem won across the board, besting the Rhinos 5-0.Â

Match 2:Â
Lynchburg - 2-3
Â
Bozarth and Rich battled at the No. 1 spot, but fell with identical set scores of 14-21.

After a tough 9-21 first set result, the No. 2 pair of Scherer and Tullock fought to take their second set the distance. After a back-and-forth final few points, the duo was outlasted 22-24.Â

At No. 4, Noplos and Cook played a competitive match, but were ultimately bested 17-21, 15-21.Â

Despite the match being clinched, the No. 3 duo of Rymer and Torres didn't back down, taking their point in straight sets 21-16, 21-17.Â

Bun and Lennie followed their lead at No. 5, winning set one 21-14, then falling in a tight 18-21 second set. The pair found their footing again in set three, taking down Lynchburg 15-10.

Match 3:
Stevenson -Â 1-4
Â
Stevenson took matches 2-4 in straight sets. No. 2 fell 15-21, 16-21; No. 3 fell in a close 18-21, 19-21 match; and No. 4 fell 13-21, 19-21.Â

There was a battle at the No. 1 spot, with a third set being forced. Ultimately, the Mustangs prevailed.Â

The sole win for the Spirits came at No. 5, winning in straight sets.Â

Match 4:
Catawba - 1-4
Â
Molly Enos and Rich opened the day at No. 1, falling 7-21, 10-21.Â

At No. 2 Tullock and Scherer battled, but were bested 9-21, 12-21.Â

The No. 3 duo of Rymer and Torres added another dominant win to the score book, winning both sets 16-21.Â

Noplos and Cook kept things close at No. 4, but were ultimately outlasted 18-21, 19-21.

The final match of the weekend went the distance, with Bun and Lennie playing three sets. The Spirits took set one 21-15, then lost set two 17-21. A tight third set ensued, but Catawba was able to hold the momentum to beat the duo 15-13.Â

The Spirits will next be in action on Tuesday March 3rd where they host Sandhills Community College.Â
