Salem Beach Volleyball their 2026 campaign off to a strong start, winning both matches against Sandhills 5-0.
Match One
Salem 5, Sandhills 0
In their first match with Salem Beach, Madison Bozarth and Sadie Rich won a tight matchup at the No. 1 spot, taking home a 21-19, 21-18 win.
Veterans Mackenzie Tullock and Ellie Scherer teamed up at the No. 2 spot, winning the first set with a commanding 21-11 score, then battling to win the second 21-17.
The No. 3 team of Leah Rymer and Olivia Torres dominated their matchup, holding their opponents to only 11 points on their way to a 21-6, 21-5 win.
Two more Salem Beach newcomers secured their first win, with Taylor Cook and Ariana Noplos holding strong at No. 4 with a 21-8, 21-5 final.
The Freshman-Junior duo of Jolina Bun and Emma Marion also won at the No. 5 spot, taking down the Flyers 21-18, 21-15.
Molly Enos and Polly Lennie played an exhibition matchup, also winning 21-15, 21-16.
Match Two
Salem 5, Sandhills 0
Despite dropping the first set to the Flyers, Bozarth and Rich kept their momentum rolling at the No. 1 position, earning a 17-21, 24-22, 16-14 win.
The No. 2 team also was pushed to three sets, but Tullock and Scherer held strong to prevail 21-12, 21-23, 15-10.
Rymer and Torres kept their foot on the gas, defeating the No. 3 team 21-8, 21-18.
The No. 4 duo got tested more in this matchup, but it was no sweat for Cook and Noplos, who took home a 21-11, 21-16 win.
The Flyers unfortunately had to medically withdraw from their No. 5 match, rewarding Bun and Marion with the point.
Enos and Lennie also won their exhibition matchup 21-7, 21-14.
The Spirits will next be in action on Saturday February 21st, where they host Richard Bland in their home opener.
