>SPIRITS HOST LYNCHBURG AT SALEM BEACH VOLLEYBALL COMPLEX
Salem beach volleyball will host its second match of the season, first that is a non-exhibition, on Thursday afternoon when it welcomes Lynchburg for a match at 1 p.m.
The match marks the second for the Spirits at home this season and first since hosting Wake Tech CC in an exhibition clash on March 6th.

The Spirits are looking to halt a five-match skid that began with a 5-0 setback to Wingate in March 21st.
Salem had won four straight, including a sweep of Wake Tech on March 6th, which came as a result of wins of 4-1 and 3-2. The following afternoon, the Spirits took down Sandhills CC by a 4-1 score before picking up their second win of the season against Spartanburg Methodist (3-2).
Along with the setback to Wingate, Salem also suffered setbacks to Lynchburg (4-1), Liberty (Club) (5-0) and a pair of recent losses to Catawba (4-1 / 5-0).

Salem has posted 20 victories in 55 games played through the course of the 2025 beach volleyball season.
With a victory in the first of two matches against Catawba, the tandem of
Jolina Bun and
Olivia Torres became the winningest on the sand courts this season. Bun and Torres are 6-3 overall, claiming all six wins as the No. 4 seed.
Aspen Bradley and
Ella Brameus, who have served as Salem's No. 3 seeds in 2025, are 5-6, marking the second-most wins.
The team with the third-best overall mark for the Spirits in the first year of the program has been
Grace Royer and
Molly Enos. That tandem is 4-7 overall, with all four victories as the No. 5 seed.
Anna Rymer and
Leah Rymer have claimed two wins at the No. 2 position for Salem.
Teammates
Ellie Scherer and
McKenzie Tullock also cracked the win barrier in 2025, winning a three-set clash against Wake Tech's tandem of Chloe Stein and Gabi Carter.

Teammates
Jolina Bun and
Olivia Torres provided Salem with a victory over Catawba in the first match of the afternoon and fought to three sets in the second match, but the Indians prevailed by scores of 4-1 and 5-0 in a pair of matches on Friday afternoon.
CATAWBA 4, SALEM 1
The tandem of
Jolina Bun and
Olivia Torres earned their sixth victory of the slate as the fourth-seeded Spirits posted a 14-21, 21-15, 15-13 win over Ragan Ball and Taylor Allison.
The first-seeded duo of Hayes Smith and Riannel Arevalo picked up a point for Indians as they took a 21-11, 21-13 win over
Ellie Scherer and
McKenzie Tullock. Teammates Christina Knotts and Morgan Childress grabbed a point in No. 2 action by taking down
Leah Rymer and
Anna Rymer by scores of 21-19 and 21-17.
Katie Willingham and Kennedy Kimbro grabbed a pair of 21-15, 21-15 wins in the clash of No. 3 seeds with
Ella Brameus and
Aspen Bradley. The Indians also grabbed a point in No. 5 action as Sidney Kettelkamp and Brooke Vaughan emerged with a 21-14, 21-15 victory over
Grace Royer and
Molly Enos.
CATAWBA 5, SALEM 0
Salem managed to extend the Indians to a pair of three-set outings in the second match of the afternoon. One of those three-set affairs was the fourth-seeded battle featuring
Jolina Bun and
Olivia Torres.
The Salem duo of Bun and Torres captured the second set win before falling to Taylor Allison and Ragan Ball by scores of 21-19, 16-21, 15-11.
Ella Brameus and
Aspen Bradley also extended their opposition to three sets in the second match, but the tandem of Katie Willingham and Kennedy Kimbro emerged by scores of 11-21, 21-11, 15-8.
Ellie Scherer and
McKenzie Tullock faced off against Riannel Arevalo and Hayes Smith in No. 1 action, falling to the Catawba pair by scores of 21-17, 21-14. Christina Knotts and Morgan Childress posted a 21-12, 21-16 win in No. 2 play for the Indians as they toppled
Leah Rymer and
Anna Rymer.
Catawba also received a two-set win in No. 5 action as the pair of Sidney Kettelkamp and Brooke Vaughan capitalized on wins of 21-12 and 21-13 to down
Grace Royer and
Molly Enos.
>SCOUTING REPORT: Lynchburg
Salem and Lynchburg will meet for the second time in the last 12 days when the two meet on Thursday afternoon.
The Spirits suffered a 4-1 setback in the first meeting between the two programs, which took place in Indian Trail, N.C. The lone point (21-19, 21-13) came when Salem's
Olivia Torres and
Jolina Bun downed Lydia Nelson and Parker Lynch in the clash of No. 4 seeds.
Salem's tandem of
Leah Rymer and
Anna Rymer also had solid performances in their battle with Jordan Palmer and Sydney Phillips as the two units clashed in No. 2 action.
Lynchburg enters the match with an 8-6 mark, earning one of those wins against Jacksonville State (3-2), which competes at the NCAA Division I level with its primary sports. The Hornets are also 4-0 against NCAA Division III opponents.
The Hornets are 4-1 when facing NCAA Division III opposition, boasting a 3-1 record when facing Southern Virginia and a 1-0 mark versus Salem.
