BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Salem tennis team saw its 2024-25 season come to a close following a 4-0 setback to Southern Virginia in the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament on Wednesday afternoon in Buena Vista, Va. 

Southern Virginia grabbed the early 1-0 advantage in the match with a pair of doubles wins. The first came from the first-seeded tandem of Paula Snelson and Jillian Arnold, who took down Cymone Crump and Daisy Ortiz Mendoza by a 6-2 score. The Knights' tandem of Lydia Delich and Remly Fry followed that with a 6-0 victory against Chloe Koons and Emily Buckler in second-seeded doubles. 

Snelson delivered the second point of the afternoon for Southern Virginia after downing Crump by scores of 6-1, 6-0 in No. 1 singles. Fry moved the lead to 3-0 for the Knights in the clash of No. 4 seeds, defeating Koons by scores of 6-1, 6-1. 

The decisive point for Southern Virginia came as fifth-seeded Nadia Molanphy posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Abrielle Eckenroth, clinching the victory for the Knights.
