INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. — The Salem beach volleyball program suffered a pair of setbacks to Wingate (5-0) and Lynchburg (4-1) in Indian Trail, N.C., in matches hosted by Wingate on Friday. The lone point for the Spirits came from the fourth-seeded pair of
Jolina Bun and
Olivia Torres, which came in the clash with Lynchburg.

For just the second time this season and the first time in a clash in a non-exhibition match, the Spirits suffered a 5-0 setback.
The loss came to Wingate in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
Amelia Talbott and Lilou Thieme claimed one of the five wins for the Bulldogs in No. 1 action as they took down
Ellie Scherer and
McKenzie Tullock by scores of 21-15, 21-7.
Salem's No. 2 tandem of
Leah Rymer and
Anna Rymer stretched Ella Harm and Naomi Hilliard to three sets, before succumbing by scores of 21-15, 21-23, 15-13. The Spirits' tandem of
Aspen Bradley and
Ella Brameus also fought hard in their battle with London Moultrie and Lilly DeLamielleure before falling 21-19, 21-16 in the No. 3 clash.
Jolina Bun suffered her first setback of the season alongside
Olivia Torres after falling 21-11, 21-19 to Wingate's fourth-seeded tandem of Alyssa Maragelis and Michaela Benfield. The Bulldogs completed their sweep of Salem with a 21-14, 21-7 victory from Emma Brugh and Zelasia Edwards in a fifth-seeded clash with
Grace Royer and
Molly Enos.

McKenzie Tullock by scores of 21-19, 21-6. Meanwhile, Sydney Phillips and Jordan Palmer faced off against Salem's
Leah Rymer and
Anna Rymer in No. 2 action, downing the Salem pair by scores of 21-16, 21-16.
Kailey Keough and Mady Shirey earned a win in No. 3 action by virtue of a 21-12, 21-8 victory against
Ella Brameus and
Aspen Bradley. Virginia Zalinski and Jamie Smith also came away with a win in fifth-seeded play against Salem's
Grace Royer and
Molly Enos by margins of 21-7 and 21-17.
