SALISBURY, N.C. — Teammates Jolina Bun and Olivia Torres provided Salem with a victory over Catawba in the first match of the afternoon and fought to three sets in the second match, but the Indians prevailed by scores of 4-1 and 5-0 in a pair of matches on Friday afternoon. 

CATAWBA 4, SALEM 1
The tandem of Jolina Bun and Olivia Torres earned their sixth victory of the slate as the fourth-seeded Spirits posted a 14-21, 21-15, 15-13 win over Ragan Ball and Taylor Allison. 

The first-seeded duo of Hayes Smith and Riannel Arevalo picked up a point for Indians as they took a 21-11, 21-13 win over Ellie Scherer and McKenzie Tullock. Teammates Christina Knotts and Morgan Childress grabbed a point in No. 2 action by taking down Leah Rymer and Anna Rymer by scores of 21-19 and 21-17. 

Katie Willingham and Kennedy Kimbro grabbed a pair of 21-15, 21-15 wins in the clash of No. 3 seeds with Ella Brameus and Aspen Bradley. The Indians also grabbed a point in No. 5 action as Sidney Kettelkamp and Brooke Vaughan emerged with a 21-14, 21-15 victory over Grace Royer and Molly Enos.

Salem managed to extend the Indians to a pair of three-set outings in the second match of the afternoon. One of those three-set affairs was the fourth-seeded battle featuring Jolina Bun and Olivia Torres. 

The Salem duo of Bun and Torres captured the second set win before falling to Taylor Allison and Ragan Ball by scores of 21-19, 16-21, 15-11. Ella Brameus and Aspen Bradley also extended their opposition to three sets in the second match, but the tandem of Katie Willingham and Kennedy Kimbro emerged by scores of 11-21, 21-11, 15-8. 

Ellie Scherer and McKenzie Tullock faced off against Riannel Arevalo and Hayes Smith in No. 1 action, falling to the Catawba pair by scores of 21-17, 21-14. Christina Knotts and Morgan Childress posted a 21-12, 21-16 win in No. 2 play for the Indians as they toppled Leah Rymer and Anna Rymer. 

Catawba also received a two-set win in No. 5 action as the pair of Sidney Kettelkamp and Brooke Vaughan capitalized on wins of 21-12 and 21-13 to down Grace Royer and Molly Enos.
